I Guess I'm Dreaming Again -- Chapter 4
The bus trip home seemed like days were passing by. Hayley had eventually fallen asleep on Josh’s chest. His chest was slowly, gentaly, rising and falling and it kept up to the beat of his heart, the rhythm was so perfect once her head had fallen from his shoulder she didn’t even wake up. He laid his head genly on top of hers and stared out the window.
It was growing dark outside and the lights of passing cars illuminatd the small rows of seats he and hayley shared. Across the aisle, Zac and Taylor had long since stopped talking, Josh assumed they were asleep.
Staring blankly out the window Josh found him self reminissing over little things that had happened that day before he to drifted off to sleep.
It was almost two hours later when josh woke up, feeling as though he was being pressed to death.
“Zac”he grumbled, waking up to see zac sitting on his lap, looking ever so innocent.
“Uhg get off.”
With a slight hesitation Zac did as he was told.
“What gives?” Josh asked
“We’ll be home in ten minutes or so, so I thought I’d wake you sweetie.” He said in a high pitch voice pinching
Josh’s cheeks and gave a cheesy smile, before walking back to his own row.
Josh could hear Hayley give a little laugh, and he too smiled. He looked at Hayley and rolled his eyes, and they turned their attention to Zac and Taylor who had Jeremy sitting on his lap. They were all laughing at something Taylor had just said. Jeremy was laughing the hardest and failed to put a gummy bear in his mouth.
"OOH I want one!" Hayley said excitedly.
"Okay, open up" Jeremy said, calming down his laughter.
Hayley opened her mouth as wide as she could, sat up a trying to make herself taller.
"Ready" she called. Josh couldn't help but laugh at her face.
"One, two, three!" Jeremy called back before tossing the gummy bear across the aisle and into Hayley's mouth.
"Yeah!" she giggled as everyone clapped. The next thirty minutes passed by rather quickly and before she knew it, Hayley was gathering her belongings and exiting the bus. A wave of relief passed over her as she realized the trip was finally over. She walked with her friends to Jeremy's car. He was the only who could drive so he volunteered to take everyone home. Zac, and Taylor climbed in the back along with Hayley who was squished in the middle. Josh sat up front in the passangers seat mostly because he wanted to control the radio. The clock on the dashboard read 7:27.
"Hands up for those who want to stop for pizza." Jeremy said.
Everyone yelled and laughed throwing their hands in the air.
"Good." Jeremy said shoving the key into the ignition. "Someone call and get it to go."
Zac pulled out his cell phone, he had the pizza shop on speed dial. He hit the 7 key and listened for the ring than put it on speaker phone.
"You guys when I say to start barking" he whispered.
They laughed and wondered what Zac had up his sleeve.
"Hi this is Pizza Towers can I take your order?" The voice on the other end asked.
"Hi yes."Zac began, with an outrageous accent and a high pitched voice. "Me and my puppies hear are in the mood for some pizza. Do you sell pizza?" Everyone did their best not to laugh clamping hands over their mouths.
"Er, yes we do." The voice answered.
"Are you sure" Zac asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Yes, ma'am."
"WHAT!" Zac yelled, "I'm not a woman."
"Oh! Oh I'm so sorry" The voice replied after some hesitation. Hayley face began to turn red as she tried not to make a sound. Josh, who had turned around smiled back at her and watched his brother as he thought about his next move.
"Well" he cleared his throat. "I guess I will order some pizza than. Lets see, I want a large extra cheesy- cheese pizza with pepperoni, and- erm what do you want my doggies?" he put his hand over the speaker for a second and barely whispered for them to begin barking.
Hayley and Taylor exchanged glances and began to bark. Zac took his hand off the speaker.
"Uh-huh" He grunted, "Now are you guys sure you want anchovies, you know what it did to you last time."
They barked again.
"Alright but if you guys get gas you will be sleeping in the garage. Kay?" Zac motioned for them to stop. "Well I think I'll also have another large pizza, with black olives and, "he paused when he heard Hayley let out a little bark and looked up at her. She was shaking her head no with her eyes wide. "Um, okay no olives" He laughed, along with Josh, Taylor, and Jeremy who just couldn't take it anymore. "Just ham and pineapples" he looked back up at Hayley who smiled widely. "And that's all"
"Okay" The voice said, very quiet and very confused. "Your total is $19.50, your order should be ready in about 30 minutes."
"Thanks" Zac answered in his own voice and shut the phone.
They picked up the pizza's, took them back to Jeremy's house and gobbled them up in front of the T.V. as they intently watched Transformers. Not long after the movie ended they had all fallen asleep on Jeremy's living room floor. Everyone that is, except for Hayley. She didn't know what it was but something wasn't quite right again. The horrible feeling had overtaken her again and she hated it. After laying on the floor in between Josh and Zac who were snoring very lightly she decided to get up and go into the kitchen for some water. Jeremy's house was like her second house she didn't feel to awkward wander about it at night. As she entered the kitchen she stepped gingerly over Red, Jeremy's dog, who was lying in the door way. He sat up and looked at her. He didn't look excited like he usually did.
"Hey Red" She whispered to him. He than jumped to his feet and ran to the door in the back of the kithen which lead outside. He snarled at it. Hayley froze. Red's lip curled revealing his large kanine teeth, white and sharp. His snal grew louder as he stared at the door intensely.
"Wh What is it?" Hayley asked with a shaking voice. Hesitantly she made her way over to the door, and pulled aside a small bit of the curtian that covered the window on the door. It was still dark outside, with only the very early signs of dawn showing. She strained her eyes to see anything, but nothing looked out of the ordinary. Suddenly Red began to bark fiercly, the sound was ear piercing. It wasn't until than that Hayley saw a figure pop up from the infront of the door and turn to run away. Hayley was in shock, she backed away, from the door and the dog who begining to grow louder and louder.
"HAYLEY!" a voice yelled from behind her. It was Jeremy's older brother Mitch. "What is it?" he asked, unlike Jeremy's baby blues, his eyes were dark brown and menacing.
"There's..er there was a man outside" she stammpered.
Mitch walked over to the door and peaked out the window. He could just barley see a figure at the edge of his lawn running, running until they dissappeared into the trees behind his lot.
"I'm calling the police" Mitch stated leaving Hayley shaken in the kitchen. Unsure of what to do she walked back into the living room to wake the boys.
